Commissioned by the National Sculpture Factory, Accumulator is a live video event which uses the interior of the Factory to generate, process and present a large-scale multi-media installation. Just prior to the shortest day in December 2002 a CCTV camera was installed, to capture an image of the Factory floor once every four minutes until the Summer Solstice six months later. A 30-minute video film is been edited from this material, and forms the central, large-scale projection for Accumulator.

Accumulator is a site-specific work in which the longer-term processes of the Factory - and the rhythm of days and nights over a period of six months - unfold in an interior transformed through the use of lighting and physical interventions. A 10-channel soundtrack, formed by processing audio recordings made in the Factory, fills the space. The work ends with a single climactic 'night' scene, replacing all the nights removed from the six month time-lapse sequence
